Revised (Proposed) FDA Regulations
Effective Dec. 12, 2003
As part of the Public Health Security & Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act, the Food & Drug Administration has issued new regulations regarding the way food shipments are cleared.
Following comment from the public and the trade regarding the proposed rules, FDA has amended a portion of the original proposal to better serve the import community while adhearing to the BioTerrorism Act of 2002.
- Data will be recieved by FDA using the U.S. Customs ACS system.
- The prior notice requirement will be reduced if not eliminated.
The final rules are scheduled for publication in the Oct. 12, 2003 Federal Register.
