Homeland Security

Since the horrific events of 9/11/01, the United States government has taken numerous measures to further protect our borders. Many of these changes include new governmental programs for the shipping industry as well as the restructuring of the U.S. Customs Service.

The following programs have been put in effect to reduce the threat of terrorism through international trade:

Container Security Initiative (CSI)

Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)

New FDA Regulations
