MID Number for Textile Manufacturers

Customs / CBP has eliminated the requirment for a textile declartion, for goods from WTO and non-WTO countries.

Customs now requires that the MID (manufacturer Identification number) be generated with ethe information from the actual factory / manufacturer. MID numbers for trading companies, selling agents, etc. will not be acceptable.

The use of MID numbers that indicate parties other than the actual manufacturer, will result in entry rejection, and the possibility of penalties.

Enforcement of these new rules began on Nov. 19, 2005.
