Special Duty Programs

Special duty programs are put in place by the government of the U.S. and a particular trading partner. The program often affords importers the opportunity to import merchandise from certain countries at free or reduced rates of duty. Please be sure to check the eligibility of specific imported goods for each program with the harmonized tariff schedule.

Claims for preferential duty treatment are made by using the appropriate special program indicator, in the space preceeding the tarif number on your entry.

It is strongly recommended you obtain a certificate of origin from the exporter, to demonstrate proof of origin should it be required by Customs.

Please check back often to learn the status of an existing program or the addition of new programs.

Important Note: Please be advised that GST and ATPDEA are scheduled to expire on 12/31/06.
