Labor Lock-out at West Coast Ports(2)
Oct. 1, 2002
Following talks between the two parties on Monday, the focus of labor negotiations has shifted from technology to worker pensions.
Both parties are meeting today with a federal mediator. Talks are scheduled to continue on Wednesday.
Sources have advise that some carriers are diverting vessels to other gulf and east coast ports. However it is expected that there will be some retalliation by union brothers in these ports, although a complete shut-down would violate the contract in place for these areas.
Please check back often for update on this situation..
