Wood Packing Material Regulations
Effective Sept. 15, 2005
Effective this date, all wood packing material used in shipments to
the U.S, must comply with regulations 7 CFR 319.40-3(b). These regulations
require that all wood packing materials have undergone one of the
following processes and are marked accordingly:
- Heat Treatment
- Fumigation
with Methyl Bromide
Failure to comply with these regulations can result in one of the
following:
- Cargo may be required to be re-exported to the point of origin.
- Customs MAY allow the materials to be seperated from the shipment
under customs supervision, at the expense of the importer.
